Box Elder County
Box Elder, named for the large amount of Box Elder trees in the area, is located in northern Utah and is the stateís third-largest county. Offering a casual lifestyle, a strong sense of community and a firmly ingrained work ethic, Box Elder County is an appealing place for families to live, work and play. Also in Box Elder county is the Famous Fruitway located along the 10-mile stretch of Northern Utahís Highway 89. Fruit stands dot this stretch offering an array of fresh fruit and vegetables picked from the local farms. Many of these stands have been in existence for decades having been passed through generations.

Davis County
Davis County, named after early pioneer Daniel C. Davis, is Utahís smallest county in land size but the third largest in population. Frequented by the Shoshone Indians in historic times, Davis County area was among the first settled by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who arrived in the Great Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Attracting the early settlers were the lush pastures, fertile soil and running streams which allowed them to build farms and develop communities. The largest city in Davis County is Bountiful, home to Bountiful Performing Arts Center, The Bountiful/Davis Art Center and the University of Utah Bountiful Campus.

Salt Lake County
Salt Lake City became the capitol of Utah and the County Seat on January 6,1851. Thanks to large and continuous economic and population growth, Salt Lake County has developed into a substantial metropolitan area for its more than 850,000 residents with Salt Lake City as the hub of a majority of the political and commercial activity. Settlement began on July 24,1847 as Brigham Young and a party of 148 Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley to end a 1,500 mile journey west. Today, Salt Lake County boasts 15 municipalites, 15 canyons, and four world-class ski resorts. The county operates on an annual budget of more than three quarters of a billion dollars, includes three dozen agencies providing nearly 100 services, and operates Utahís largest fire department, library system and law enforcement agency. In addition, Salt Lake County is the proud home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Museum of Fine Art, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.

Summit County
Summit County, dubbed Utahís gateway, played a key role in the settlement of Utah as a stop on the route of the first Mormon pioneers. The beauty and serene landscape of this sleepy Utah mountain area are what attracts skiers and other tourists. The main hub of the recreational activity is Park City, the largest city in Summit County. Most other areas of the county feature agriculture as the main industry but also hold much history. Castle Rock, for example, was a stop on the Pony Express and is famed for a robbery of $20,00 in gold. An old railbed running from Echo to Park City today serves as State Park and scenic recreational byway.

Utah County
Utah County is the second most populous county in Utah behind Salt Lake County. Its County Seat is Provo, ranked by Forbes Magazine in the top 10 places for ìBusiness and Careers.î Provo is also the proud home of Brigham Young University, a 30,000-student institution founded and run as the leading Mormon university. BYU sports and cultural offerings play an intregal role in the life of the people of Provo. Tourists in the area flock to Sundance Resort, owned by actor Robert Redford. A small, pleasant resort in the Wasatch Mountains north of Provo, it is beautifully set beneath towering Mt. Timpanogos.

Weber County
The Weber County area is garnering new attention as a recreation mecca. Ogden, itís County Seat, has been called the city with the ìBest Access to the Outdoorsî by Sunset Magazine and Ski Magazine invites its readers to ìshake hands with the best little ski town nobody has heard of.î Since 1869, Ogden has been one of the busiest rail centers in the west. In fact, Ogden was once known as ìJunction City.î Webster State is the primary institute of higher learning in the Weber County area and is the alma matar of Neleh Dennis, first runner up in the fourth season of the hit show "Survivor."
